Ledston Estate Countryside Fair

On Thursday 21st May 2009, Class 5 took a trip to the Ledston Estate Countryside Fair.

Even though it was absolutely pouring down when we got there it didn't dampen our spirits!

The sun tried its best to shine through and we did get a few fine spells.

We saw a sheep shearing and dancing show, donkeys, alpachas, gun dogs and birds of prey to name just a few things.

We also enjoyed 3 workshops:

1. Sheep Making

We loved this workshop! We made 5 of our very own sheep using wood, wool, old socks, felt and wadding. Our sheep, each with their own name, came home with us and are going to live in school.

2. Viking braiding

In this workshop we learnt the art of ancient Viking braiding using a special template and different coloured wool. We thought these would make fantastic friendship bracelets.

3. Greenhouse Gardens

In this workshop we made our very own recycled greenhouse, using an old plastic bottle. We put gravel, soil, a broad bean seed and water in the bottle and covered it with clingfilm. Hopefully our beans will grow into a fine, healthy crop!

We had a great day and it just shows that even bucketfuls of rain can't dampen our spirits!!!!!
