Teeth and Eating

A healthy balanced diet contains a variety of foods including plenty of fruit and vegetables, plenty of starchy foods such as wholegrain bread, pasta and rice, some protein-rich foods such as meat, fish, eggs and lentils and some dairy foods. It should also be low in fat (especially saturated fat), salt and sugar.

Looking after your teeth.

We need teeth to chew food and speak clearly. They also affect the appearance of your face and smile. It's very important to look after them well.

Maintaining good oral hygiene is critical to prevent tooth decay and gum disease. This means cleaning your teeth twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste, visiting the dentist and hygienist regularly and controlling how often you consume sugar.
