Aims

We aim to:-

Broad guidelines for the implementation of the policy

The Induction Process (all new staff)

Before joining the employee’s line manager (or delegated individual) deals courteously and efficiently with job applicants telling them about the school and the type of work showing them the premises and introducing them to colleagues.

On the employee’s first day the Headteacher and /or line manager will put them at ease

All new staff will be given the opportunity, where possible to visit the school and have an initial welcome meeting with the Headteacher (or delegated individual) who will ensure that the new member of staff is introduced to all available members of staff.

The line manager will ensure that new staff are familiar with the building, emergency evacuation procedures and are provided with all necessary documentation.  They will also be available to answer initial questions or concerns the new employee may have.

After four weeks the line manager or mentor will discuss with the new employee the induction process checklist.

Induction Process (Students)

Luddendenfoot School seeks to develop partnerships with a range of Educational Organisations.

The Headteacher and/or mentor, will give a guided tour of the school, and will meet all students within the school.

Students will be given access to the staff handbook.  This will be discussed with the mentor.

The mentor will discuss his/her role with the students and procedures of monitoring and evaluation according to their training institution’s routines.

The mentor will be available for students to discuss any concerns.

Induction process (newly qualified teachers)

All NQT’s will be given support and opportunities to follow an individually tailored programme, in line with and fulfilling requirements as laid out in the most up to date Teacher Training Agency (TTA) documentation.

Induction/Welcoming process (visitors)

Visitors to the school should gain access via the main door and report to the School Administrator, or other staff around.

The School Administrator or other receptionist will welcome visitors to the school at the main door.  They will ensure that the visitor or contractor signs the visitor book and/or work description.

Visitors to the school should comply with school notices regarding health and safety and should sign out of the visitors book to ensure that all people within school are accounted for in case of emergency.

Review of the process

During the first weeks of a new person joining the school the line manager/mentor will ensure that they have settled in and if necessary set up regular meetings to discuss policy and procedures.

Equal Opportunities

All employees and visitors to Luddendenfoot School are treated equally, irrespective of race, culture and gender, in line with the school’s Equal Opportunities policy.
