Luddendenfoot J&I School
Policy for Monitoring and Evaluation
Introduction
‘The starting point for working out how a school can do better is to know how well it is performing now.’ Ted Wragg
At Luddendenfoot monitoring takes place at several levels, to give us useful information about how well we are achieving our aims. Monitoring leads to evaluation and planned action so that we can continually improve and develop as a school.
In order to provide the best education we can for our children we consider how Luddendenfoot is currently performing each year and from this we prioritise those areas which are to become targets in the School Development Plan. Each target in the School Development Plan is monitored and evaluated against success criteria.
Broad guidelines for the implementation of the policy
To help us identify target areas we use information from:
- National Curriculum Assessments
- Attendance and Exclusions
- Admissions
- We look at:
- Behaviour and Attitudes
- Staff Morale and Commitment
- Staff Development Interviews
- Staff Appraisal
- Values of parent and Community
- We use the OFSTED Framework to provide guidance.
- We consider a range of questions:
- Are some parts of the school more effective than others?
- How do we know?
- Why is it so?
- How does achievement compare with achievement in the past?
- Is there change over time?
- Is there consistency?
- How does the school’s performance compare with other schools?
- Nationally?
- Locally?
- With similar catchment areas?
