Here at Luddendenfoot Academy, we are continually doing our best to help the environment and to be eco-friendly.
As you may be aware we recycle a variety of different things, such as:
Plastic bottle tops
Batteries
Ink Cartridges
Paper and Card
We, as a school have applied for the Green Flag Award and we have all been involved in activites that wil hopefully help us to gain this award.
Some of these activities are:
Tree-planting around the school grounds
The purchase of a greenhouse so that hopefully we can grow our own vegetables and flowers
Encouraging wildlife with bird boxes and feeders
We also try to help the environment off our school site. Some of our classes have been involved with a group called 'Treesponsibility' and have recently been planting around 450 trees at a local farm. These trees will eventually be used for fuel.
Classes 4 and 5 have either been or have trips arranged to Waste Works in Manchester. Here we learn about paper waste, how we can recycle, the energy used and the effects on the environment.
It's a brilliant day out, helping both ourselves and our surroundings!
Some of our Year 5 pupils along with Mr Bromley, have also been involved in 'The Big Tidy Up'. A task which helps our community in tidying up different areas which may have been neglected.
As you can see we have been and still are extremely busy with our 'Green Issues'.
